The Neo-Adlerian approach reflects an attempt to mix Adlerian principles with those of Cognitive Therapy, Reality Therapy, Object-Relations, Positive Psychology, Solution-Oriented Therapy, and other popular psychologies. Dreikurs' teachings form the basis for many parent education programs. In Adler’s theory, individuals work to overcome feelings of inferiority. Adlerian therapy consists of four stages: engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation.
The counseling technique is more systematic and didactic. Adlerian therapy, also known as individual therapy, emphasizes the individual’s ability to bring about positive change in his or her own life.
